Have You Seen How Full Flavored Organic Coffee Is?

I’m going to clear up a bit about USDA certified organic items, in particular, organic coffee.

1) Synthetic fertilizers can’t be utilized to grow certified organic foods.

2) Certified organic foods may not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

3) To be labeled 100% organic the product may only contain organic ingredients (excluding water and salt).

4) Products labeled organic will contain at least 95% organic certified ingredients, and the balance 5% must be components that are not available in an organic form.

5) The USDA organic logo can be printed on any 100% organic or “Organic” item.

6) If an agricultural food, such as coffee is labeled as organic it wasn’t be treated with environmentally hazardous fertilizers such as sewage sludge.

I’m not trying to bore you with mindless organic labeling facts, but you need to know what you’re dealing with “organic” products.  It’s time to talk about my passion, organic coffee.  Looking back to the meaning of certified organic, organic coffee must be at least 95% organically grown beans.

You may be considering, “who cares if my coffee was grown organically?” well here’s a few reasons:

1) Synthetic compounds are awful enough, but just think, sewage sludge!

2) One of my most endearing comforts with the USDA organic certification is no genetically modified plants.

3) If you don’t like the buzz of real coffee then only drink organic decaf. coffee, or don’t drink coffee at all.  Regular coffees use nasty substances such as methylene chloride and ethyl acetate to process the coffees.  Organic decaffeinated coffees are done with hot water and not chemicals.  A lot of evidence indicate that drinking decaffeinated coffee leads to rheumatoid arthritis.  More studies need to be done to compare conventional (chemical decaf.) and water processed decaf.

4)  Not only are chemicals bad for us, but think about the innocent coffee farmers.   Most coffee is grown in primarily poor places in the world, and a lot of these farmers can’t read pesticide warning labels, resulting in improper preparation of chemicals, and therefore, toxic exposure for them and the environment.

I have briefly listed a few points about the benefits of organic coffee.  I haven’t even got into all the environmental damage that is caused by just manufacturing the pesticides and herbicides.

Lastly, one must consider the utter love and attention that goes into growing coffee organically.  The farmers investigate and nurture their crops, resulting in perfectly developed organic coffee.  Whether you think I’m just trying to put forth my agenda, or promote your good health, please give organic coffee a taste and pass the word.
